Ekpere-Eta hails Kebbi first lady UICC appointment, says Nig women have a lot to offer

Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), Mrs. Mary Ekpere-Eta Esq., has congratulated wife of the Kebbi State governor, Her Excellency, Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu on her appointment as a director on the board of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

Mrs. Bagudu is one of the 12 members on the board of the international organization elected at the 2018 World Cancer Congress held  in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ekpere -Eta in a personally signed statement described Dr. Bagudu's appointment as one based on merit, as she has contributed greatly to creating awareness on cancer in Nigeria, as well as provided succor to patients and persons affected by the disease.

The NCWD Director-General further described the appointment of the wife of the Kebbi State governor as a testament to the outstanding contributions Nigerian women can make within and outside government when supported and given the opportunity. 

She commended  Mrs. Bagudu for touching the lives of thousands of women through  interventions carried out by Medicaid Cancer Foundation.

"The appointment of Her Excellency, Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, into the board of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is not just a personal achievement, but a major accomplishment for Nigerian women.

"Her appointment gives credence to the fact that our women are dedicated to national development as professionals and they are ever willing to contribute their own quota as social entrepreneurs.

"I congratulate Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu on her appointment and wish her a successful tenure", Ekpere-Eta stated.
