JUST IN : Akpagu, Agi, others to build N4m refectory for alma mater

Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu, Joe Agi, SAN and other members of 1977 class of Mary Knoll College, Okuku, Yala have disclosed plans to build a refectory estimated to cost about N4 million for their alma mater.

Prof. Akpagu who announced the "77 class resolution today at Marry Knoll during a special Holy Mass organized as part of activities for the conferment of chieftaincy title on him by the Yala nation said the project will commence in the first quarter of 2019.

He said that the " 77 class was a special one as it has produced eminent personalities who are thriving in different field of endeavors.

According to him "Today is very significant to us the class of "77; we are standing on the same ground we were all looking for water, the staff quarters we were all hiding.

We were here about a month ago to bury one of our class mates, Chief John Odey, the former Minister of Environment and we regrouped and agreed to participate in the building of refectory for our alma mater. The cost was put at about N4 million".

Prof. Akpagu and Joe Agi, SAN donated one million each even as other members made donations of various sums.

Reacting, the Principal of the school, Rev. Father Emmanuel Ujo, PhD lauded Akpagu, Agi and the entire members of the "77 class for their contributions.

He said that "I want to sincerely thank the class of "77 for identifying with us. About a month ago they were here and today they are here again to contribute towards the development of the school".
