UPDATED : Court Orders INEC to publish Usani's name as C'River APC Guber candidate

Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday, January 31st granted an Order of Interlocutory Injunction restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from publishing any name other than Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, Niger Delta Affairs Minister as  All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate in Cross River State.

The order was contained in a suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1222/2018 and filed by Hon. Godwin Etim John as state Chairman of APC, Pastor Usani, Hon. Kress Ojondo and Ukandi Emmanuel Iknakefa against the APC and INEC.

The presiding Judge, Justice I.E Ekwo granted an order restraining INEC which is the second defendant in the matter from publishing any name other name the names of Pastor Usani as governorship candidate and all other candidates elected on the 3rd of October.

Justice Ekwo ordered that all parties are to maintain status quo pending the determination of the matter.

The court adjourned the matter to 5th February for hearing of the substantive suit.

Recall that Sen. John Owan Enoh, recognized by the national leadership of the party as the governorship candidate has been having running battle with the Pastor Usani who is also laying claims to the governorship ticket of the party.

Owan Enoh was however presented with the governorship flag by President Buhari during APC presidential rally in Calabar and Wednesday and his name was published yesterday by INEC as governorship candidate.
