C'River REC must go, he is thoroughly biased against APC - Buhari's aide

Chairman, Special Presidential Panel On Recovery of Public Asset, Chief Okoi Obono-obla has accused the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of Cross River State, Dr Frankland Briyai of compromise and biasness against the APC in the recently held Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

Obono-obla in a statement sent to Fearless Reports accused the INEC chief of allowing the ruling PDP in the state access to sensitive elections materials even as he said that he allowed the use of manual voting in the state.

While insisting that the REC is incompetent and must not be allowed to conduct the next governorship and national assembly election in the state, Obono-obla who is also the Special Assistant to the President on Prosecution alleged that all the adhoc staff used in the last elections were PDP proteges.

"The Cross River State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission  is thoroughly compromised and biased against the All Progressives Congress   APC !

He allowed the PDP access to sensitive electoral materials in the presidential election ! He permitted the use of manual voting during the presidential election !

All ad hoc staff used by INEC to conduct the presidential election in Cross River State, were protégés of PDP chieftains and the Government of Cross River State !

He is also grossly incompetent and not in charge ! He must go ! He must not superintend the conduct of the forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly", he said.

He added that "The REC was used as a tool by some vested interest purportedly delisting  our Governorship , National and State Assemblies to make an announcement on radio and television, that caused so much distraction and confusion among APC supporters , on the eve of the presidential election, which made APC to lose thousands of votes in the presidential election  in Cross River State".

Effort to get the REC's reaction to the allegations was unsuccessful at the time of filling this report.
