VC APPOINTS PROF EPOKE, EYANG, OTHERS AS MANAGERS OF APC

In a bid to get the newly-established Academic Publishing Centre (APC) up and running, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Zana Akpagu has appointed the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the institution,  Prof. James Epoke as the pivotal General Manager of the Centre.

The appointments are coming barely few days after the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) commissioned and handed over the centre to UNICAL.

 A letter dated March 1, 2019 and signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Moses Abang said the appointment takes immediate effect. 

The Vice Chancellor said Prof. Epoke’s appointment is anchored on the confidence he has in him even as he urged him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the centre, which is expected to serve the interest of public institutions in the South-South Geopolitical zone of the country. 

According to the letter, Prof. Epoke will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the centre and liaise with the Registrar to post the number and categories of relevant support staff, he requires to ease operations.

In the same vein, the Vice Chancellor appointed Dr. Tony Eyang of the Department of English and Literary Studies as Deputy Manager and Prof. Mrs Grace Okereke of the same department as Chief Editor of the Centre.
 Prof. Frank Okpiliya of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences and Dr. Bassey Oben of the Department of Modern Languages and Trans. Studies were also appointed as assistant editors of the centre.

The Vice Chancellor who also said their appointments takes effect from March 1, 2019 urged them to work in tandem with the Chief Editor to ensure smooth operation of the centre.
