YDP disowns its guber candidate, says election in C'River was successful

The Cross River State Chapter of the Young Democratic Party, YDP has disowned its governorship candidate in the March 9 governorship election, Mr. Emmanuel undie.

The party in a statement by its state Secretary, Hon. Ashie Paul said that contrary to a release issued by Undie that the party was rejecting the governorship election result, the party considers the elections generally successful.

The party said that Undie contested the governorship election under YDP without the knowledge of the state Chairman, state working committee as well as members of the party.

While calling on the general public to disregard the statement by Undie rejecting the election, the statement advised all aggrieved candidates to consult with the leadership of the party on the appropriate move to take.

"Young Democratic Party, (YDP) Cross River State wish to appreciate all electorates who came out to vote in the just concluded States elections in Cross River State.

"The elections is termed as a successful one and we appreciate mostly the members of our great party (YDP) as no issue of violence or casualty was reported.

"The party through the State Chairman, Hon. Dunamis Archibong and the entire executive members of the State working committee hereby release this statement as reports reaching the SWC reads thus; That one Mr. EMMANUEL UNDIE who contested the Governorship election under YDP without the knowledge of the State chairman, the state working committee and the entire members of the party have released a statement rejecting the results of the just Concluded States elections in the State.

"The Party hereby call on all citizens of the state to disregard any statement rejecting the results of the just concluded States elections in Cross River under the party YDP", the statement reads in part.
