Ekwok inaugurated for second term, promises to uphold integrity of PFN

Dr. Lawrence Ekwok, the Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Cross River State  has declared that under his leadership, the Fellowship will maintain its integrity

Dr.  Ekwok  who  stated this on Tuesday  during his inauguration for a second tenure said  he knows where God brought him from and having  come thus far, he would continue to be dedicated to the service of God, the Fellowship and its members.

He  said the PFN is an umbrella body that accommodates  diverse Christian churches whose members spread across all the political parties therefore the Fellowship  can  only advise members to vote for those with the fear of God and proven integrity and not on party basis.

“The last elections fell short of the standard of elections we have seen in this country in most places; It may not be in all places but in  most places and since the election matters  are now in the tribunals, I cannot speak much on what I think the elections was until the cases have been decided”.

He said though some churches took individual positions to adopt certain candidates but could not be disciplined  because such actions do not contravene the rules of the fellowship.

"If any member church decided to adopt any political party or candidate and directed its members to vote for such a party or individual we cannot penalize the church for such decision or action but as a body, the PFN would not do that because we are a mother body”, he added.

He said the state chapter under his leadership would erect a befitting structure to serve as a state secretariat   where  its meetings will hold and also offices and rooms to provide accommodation  to visiting clergy  to put pay to  a situation where meetings are rotated among member churches.

He maintained that “We as an executive, I can assure you would not do anything that will bring the PFN into disrepute or impinge on its integrity because we are accountable to both God and members".

Conducting the inauguration, Arch Bishop Joseph Ojo, Chairman of National Inauguration of the PFN said the presence of elders and senior ministers of God working hand in hand with the Ekwok led Executive  shows that his administration has performed excellently well and deserves another four years.

Bishop Stephen Okah, leader of PFN in the South South who spoke in a sermon  to herald the inauguration said  Dr Ekwok has been faithful working under very  stringent conditions with the national executive  of the fellowship and called for continuous support for him and his executive in the next four years.

He said he is confident that the PFN in the state would move several steps forward with Ekwok as Chairman  in the state.
