BREAKING : Police arrest three suspected cultists, recover arms in Calabar

The Cross River State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers/cultists.

This was contained in a statement made available to Fearless Reports by the Police Spokesperson in the state, DSP Irene Ugbo.

The Police said that the men of the Uwanse Surveillance unit got a tip yesterday that the suspects were planning to rob and use the proceeds to fund reprisal attack on rival cult group.

Items recovered by the suspects according to the statement includes one locally made pistol, one cartridge and dagger.

"On a tip of on 15/7/2019 at about 1721hrs that suspected armed robbers and cultists were planning to rob and use the proceed to fund reprisal attack on rivals cult, while acting on credible information men of Uwanse surveillance were mobilized.

The hoodlums on sighting the Police opened fire, police replied and three suspects were arrested.

Exhibits recovered from them include one locally made pistol, one cartridge and one dagger recovered during exchange of firearms", the statement reads.

The statement added that "investigation is on going after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution".

Recall that yesterday, a final year Student of the department of Electrical Engineering of Cross River University of Technology was murdered by suspected cultists and there have been fear over reprisal attack by rival cult group.
