BREAKING : Why C'River Assembly Wants to Change CRUTECH Name


Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly ,Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has promised that the bill seeking to change the name of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH will be the first to be passed by the 9th assembly.

Eteng stated this when members of the University Alumni association paid a courtesy visit to his office at the assembly complex, Calabar yesterday.

The bill, according to the Speaker which is sponsored by the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey is seeking to change the name of the institution from a Technology University to a conventional University where courses like Medicine, Law, Pharmacy and others can be introduced.

 While disclosing that the new name will be Cross River University, Eteng noted that 
the bill will also seek to improve the existing structure, remove the clauses that hinders the institution from offering some courses, provision of infrastructure, job opportunities, Man power development as well as promotion of teaching and research.

He also condemned the encroachment of Crutech Lands in all the campuses adding that "people are now building inside the school environment. A Bill to put an end to that will be passed and we'll ensure it is effective"

Earlier, Eyam Abeng, President of Crutech Alumni association congratulated the Speaker on his victory at the poll and tribunal.

He appealed to the Speaker to reach out to the State Governnor to appoint CRUTECH graduates into his cabinet.
