Rose Oko : Don't mention my name on Facebook, anywhere for Senate, 'angry' Jarigbe warns

Member representating Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Rt. Jarigbe Agom

Member representating Ogoja/Yala federal constituency in the house of representatives, Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom has warned those tipping him to succeed Late Senator Rose Oko to stop mentioning his name on social media or anywhere for the vacant Senate seat.

Agom whose tone suggested his displeasure over the rush by some people to replace or nominate who to replace the departed Senator took to his Facebook wall (@Jarigbe Agom) to sound out the warning to his supporters and others plotting the replacement just few days after the sad incident.

The lawmaker lamented that despite the global crisis occasioned by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, some people are so insensitive that the only thing that's of interest to them is how to grab political power.

Recall that the Senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Sen. Rose Oko few days ago died in a London hospital of an unnamed sickness. Since her death, some people in the state took to different social media platforms to mention to analyse different permutations as well as mention names of people from the zone who are likely to replace her.

The name of the popular house of representatives member has constantly been mentioned but in a sharp contrast, the lawmaker has warned that his name shouldn't be dragged into it as he is comfortable with his mandate in the green chamber.

According to him "I am surprised that people are so insensitive to the plague that has befallen the whole world, with thousands of people dying from coronavirus. A lot of us are not perturbed by the death of other people, not even our Leaders. Who in CRS is richer and more powerful than ABBA Kyari ? Where is he at the moment? No man is invincible and no one knows the next minute.

"Please let's put the issue of Senate in the North in abeyance. I dont want anyone to mention my name on Facebook or anywhere for Senate. I have a mandate and I want to concentrate on delivering on this mandate as member of the HoR".

He maintained that "It's not the status that matters but the disposition to rendering Service selflessly. We cant have that disposition if our primary objective is to hold bigger positions for pecuniary benefits".

The federal lawmaker added that "Would anyone say I haven't achieved because the HoR is a small Office? Capital NO. On that note, please let's honor our departed Senator and show her love even in death. Those who are in a hurry to replace her can do so but please keep me out. May the Soul of the departed R.I.P".
