COVID-19 : Peace Corps Lockdown Cross River Border

In a bid to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic from other states to Cross River, the Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Cross River State Command, Patriot Okweche Dominic has lockdown the border between Benue and the state.

This is in line with State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade's directives shutting down all borders linking Cross River with other states.

Okweche who was in Gakem, Bekwarra local government area, the border community of the two states yesterday said that the ravaging pandemic can only be managed if every citizen act responsibly and follow government precautionary measures to keep the state COVID-19 free.

He added that he and his men only allowed those  on essential duties or carrying consumables to enter the state after washing their hands and testing their temperatures.

According to him, "the Peace Corps will continue to intensify effort to ensuring that the people are aware of the danger occasioned by this global pandemic and take caution for safety because if the people are aware of the severity of this virus in other countries, they will thank the Governor for his well articulated steps  towards curtailing the spread".
