I'm always here for you - Akpagu, APC Senatorial hopeful assures LG Chairmanship candidates

Prof. Zana Akpagu

A Senatorial hopeful of the All Progressives Congress, APC for Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Prof. Zana Akpagu has assured the local government Chairmanship candidates of the party of his unflinching support.

Akpagu stated this on Tuesday during a courtesy call on him by forum of APC Chairmanship candidates in the state.

He said that it was time for the leaders of the  party at all levels to synergize and work as a team to achieve success in elections.

Speaking about his senatorial ambition, Akpagu said that "We from the north have not been very fortunate to send our best to the senate. This is something we all know. So, I've decided to join the race to offer our people quality representation; something we truly deserve".

He added that "With my administrative and political experiences I've gathered over the years, I think I'm very prepared for the responsibility. We need to go to the National Assembly and look for areas where we can bring influence opportunities to our people.

"I won't be going there as a novice. There's something so many people don't know. I'm more familiar with the National Assembly than even the Ministry of Education. I'm always there to defend budgets so I've gathered enough experience on the workings of the Senate".

Earlier, the Convener of the forum, Comrade Iso Bassey Edem said that with his popularity and acceptability, winning the election for APC won't be a challenge.

Edem maintained that the northern senatorial bye-election " is very vital for the APC and the party must take it beyond just a senatorial elections. Everybody must be involved to ensure we win.

"When you have a sellable commodity, you may not need too much advertisement. With what Prof. Akpagu has done in Unical, his level of accessibility, his accommodating nature, his experiences and his relationship with the grassrooters, nobody needs to tell his stories too much again. We believe in his capacity to bring quality leadership to the north and the state in general".
