C'River APC: Akpagu congratulates Mbu, lauds stakeholders for restoring peace

Hon. Minister of State, Power, Prince Goddy Jedy Agba presenting the new Cross River APC State Chairman, Sen. M.T Mbu Jr. to the party leaders after stakeholders meeting at the national secretariat in Abuja yesterday.

Leading All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial aspirant in the forthcoming Cross River North Senatorial District bye-election, Prof. Zana Akpagu has send his best wishes to the new state Chairman of the party, Sen. Mathew Mbu Jr.

Akpagu in a statement personally signed by him and issued on Wednesday said that with a Senator now as state Chairman of the party, APC is more equipped going into the Senate elections.

He maintained that Mbu is a household name in the state and country, adding that the new Chairman has always exhibited great integrity and capacity, a virtue he said were learned from his late father in all his endeavors.

While commending the national leadership for intervening in the crisis, he thanked the Honourable Minister of State for Power, Prince Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR and other distinguished leaders of the party for all their sacrifices to restore peace in the party.

"I want to send my warm felicitations to our new capacity Chairman, Sen. M.T Mbu Jr. I'm particularly impressed with his emergence because as a Senator, he'll surely lead the party to success in the forthcoming coming election because he understands how and what it means to win election.

Also, I want to appreciate our National Caretaker Committee for their intervention. To all the great leaders of our party  who have been spending sleepless nights to ensure peace return to the party, I say a big thank you to them", the statement reads in part.

While praying that the peace should be permanent, he thanked the former fractional Chairmen for the sacrifices while urging them to join hands with the new Chairman to help build a strong and united party.

"Experience is one thing you don't buy in the market. Our brothers who were leading the different factions during the dark days along the line, have learned one or two things. I want to commend them for their understanding to give peace a chance while urging them to join the new chairman in building a stronger and united party in the state", he added.

It will be recalled that during a top meeting of the Cross River State APC stakeholders with the national leadership of the party at the national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, Sen. Mbu chosen as the new state Chairman of the party.
