BREAKING : Cross River Police Commissioner dies of COVID-19 complications

 

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Cross River State, CP Abdulkadir Lanre Jimoh is dead.

The CP died on Friday at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital Isolation centre from suspected COVID-19 complications.

Several top sources who didn't want their names mentioned as they are not authorized to speak on the issue confirmed the news to our reporter.

An eye witness said that the CP "has been critically ill since on Monday and was being managed by some doctors of University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) in his house.

His COVID19 sample was collected and transported to the lab on Wednesday and result came out Positive

Even at that, he was not brought to the Isolation center until this morning before he was rushed down here and died on arrival".

The Police authority in the state was yet to speak on the issue at the time of filling in this report.

Efforts to speak with the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo was unsuccessful at news time.
