2021 : Stop The Politics Of Bitterness, Support Leaders With Creative Ideas To Move Nigeria Forward - Minister

Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR

The Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR has urged Nigerians  to stop the politics of bitterness and rather focus on supporting leaders with creative ideas to move the nation forward.

Agba who stated this in a release a few days ago by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication Strategy said that his focus would always be to
create environment that will be economically viable and sustaining for the people especially, the poor.

He said that in a bid to actualize his vision for the poor in his state and country at large, he has left no stone unturned to ensuring that the federal government provides steady electricity supply to the people in living in rural areas.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress attained so far, adding that the present administration has provided improved electricity supply to both the urban and rural areas across the states of the federation.

Agba averred that in response to the policy trust of the President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to
create wealth and employment through improved electricity, his ministry has improved power supply for artisans like welders, mechanics, factories, industries, small and medium scale enterprises and the nation institutions of higher learning.

While promising that the new year was coming with a better package from the power sector for Nigerians, he said that states Lagos, Oyo, Osun Edo, Ebonyi, Benue, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Niger and satellite towns within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have all benefited from major power interventions in the last two years.

The statement quoted the Minister as saying that "Greater attention is focused in the rural areas where advantage is taken of the emerging alternative energy sources in Nigeria; particularly the solar mini- grid systems".

Speaking about his commitment to see to major changes in the agency under him in 2021, Agba said that "the strategy document appointing me into office and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), apportioned specific roles, responsibilities and duties to my office.

This include directing me to supervise, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), including Man power and Capacity building of the Ministry of Power.

Again, every Minister so appointed, represents a State and responsibilities assigned to each of them; thus, the nomenclature of junior or senior Minister is a misnomer which confuses the Ministerial portfolios in the strategy document of the Presidency, which confers on any Federal Minister the power and privileges to perform within the areas of jurisdiction, without recourse to any form of subordination outside of the Presidency".

He assured that his commitment  to ensuring improved power supply to rural communities to boost local economy is unwavering even as he asked Nigerians to support and pray for the President and other leaders to deliver on their mandates.
