JUST IN : Minister Facilitates First Ever Federal Polytechnic To Cross River

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic in Ugep, Yakur local government area of Cross River State.

This was contained in a letter signed by the permanent secretary, Federal Ministy of Education, Architect Sonny Echono and addressed to the Honourable Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR.

Agba who is the Honourable Minister representing Cross River in the federal executive council played a major role in getting the President 's approval for the establishment of the institution which will be the first ever federal government owned polytechnic in the state. 

According to the letter, the President has also approved a takeoff grant of N2 billion for the provision of core facilities for the institution which is expected to kick-off academic activities in October this year.

"I write to inform you that His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the federal Republic of Nigeria has approved the establishment of the federal polytechnic, Ugep, Cross River State.

"Mr. President also approved a takeoff grant of N2 billion for the new Polytechnic from the funding resources of TETFUND for the provision of core facilities for immediate takeoff".

The letter added that the President 's approval has been duly conveyed to TETFUND for implementation.

The federal government further informed the Minister that, "a Technical Team from federal ministry OF Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will soon visit your state to identify the site in Ugep and access it readiness to commence academic activities in October, 2021.

"Please, accept the assurances of my esteemed regards", the letter reads.
