BREAKING : Jedy-Agba Gets Fresh Appointment

Honourable Minister of State, Power, Dr. Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR 

Honourable Minister of State, Power, Dr. Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR, has been appointed as Chairman, Board of Trustees of Authur Jarvis University. 

The letter confirming the appointment and  sent to the Minister a fortnight ago was signed by the Chancellor of the University, Sir Authur Jarvis Archibong. 

"I greatly appreciate your kind acceptance of appointment into the membership of the Board of Trustees of Authur Jarvis University. After due consideration of your distinct commitment to national development, I have the pleasure to heartily inform you that you have been appointed Chairman, Board of Trustees of Authur Jarvis University. 

This is a four-year tenured appointment with effect from August 1, 2021", the letter reads in part. 

Explaining what the University expects from the new BOT Chairman, Archibong said that "it is my belief that the leadership aptitude, candor and resilience of which you so graciously epitomize will be brought to bear in your position as Chairman, Board of Trustees".

Responding, the Minister thanked the Chancellor for trusting him with such huge responsibility to lead the University as Board Chairman. 

He said that it's always a pleasure for him to undertake assignments that will give him opportunity to touch lives as well as contribute to the socioeconomic development of the society. 

According to him, "I want to thank the Chancellor and the entire University family for trusting me with this huge responsibility. I'm particularly happy because the University is a historic one being the first privately owned University in our dear state. 

"I have said many times that quality education is the solution to the challenges facing Nigeria. When we get our education right, we've get our leadership at all levels right. I believe that although we're not there yet, we're making progress", the Minister said . 

Jedy-Agba added that the administration's commitment to reforming the education sector was recently reassured when President Muhammadu Buhari during a global summit in UK  pledged to increase the annual budget for education by 50 percent.

While pledging that he'll give his all to the University, he added that "we need to help the University grow. We're not doing it for the owner but for our children and the future of this great nation. The future of this nation will be determined by the quality of education we give to our children. If we want the nation to grow, we must take seriously, anything that concerns education and this is why I'm accepting this responsibility to support what the University is doing. My vision will be to see the University as one of the best in the nearest future". 

Authur Jarvis University is the first private University in Cross River State and one of the fastest growing private Universities in Nigeria. The institution's first sets of graduates were recently mobilized for National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
