Obinwa Emerges New Chairman of Owerri Club

The Owerri Club, the premier sports and recreational club in Southeast Nigeria, has elected a new executive committee to lead its affairs.

In a transparent and open electoral process overseen by the Electoral Committee, chaired by Akajiugo Chidi Anyaso, Ezinwa Onyebuchi Obinwa was elected Chairman, while Chief Okey Dike emerged as Vice Chairman.

Other elected executives include Ik Ogbonna as Secretary, Obinna Ibeh as Assistant Secretary, Chief Emma Ebili as Grill Secretary, Dr. Jude Ohanele as Maintenance Secretary, Dr. Francis Nnolim as an Ordinary Member, and Dr. Shah Azu Okorie as Treasurer.



The newly elected executives were promptly sworn in by a Chief Magistrate and notary public during the ceremony.

In his handover address, the outgoing Chairman, Sir Bon Ukachukwu, urged the new leadership to sustain the developmental trajectory established during his tenure.

In his acceptance speech, Ezinwa Onyebuchi Obinwa expressed gratitude to the club members for deeming him and his executive team worthy of leading the prestigious institution, assuring them that the club’s legacy and operations are in capable hands.
