ABIA: Cleric Commends OUK Over Rice, Cash Gifts To Abians, Calls For Transparent Distribution
Abia-born Baptist Church cleric, Rev. Samson Okoro Elekwa, has praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District and former Governor of Abia State, for his generous distribution of food items and cash support to residents during the Christmas season.
Rev. Elekwa described the gesture as unprecedented and a clear sign of the senator’s love for the people. He said Senator Kalu reached out to thousands of families across Abia State with over 25,000 bags of rice and cash gifts.
In his words, the cleric said the amount of rice and money given out was “too much” and showed great care for humanity.
He noted that Senator Kalu has been helping people with food items since 1986, when he opened Slok Vegetable in Aba.
“Money and rice he gave to the people is too much. It should be shared accordingly to the people. Money was splashed every corner,” Rev. Elekwa said.
He added that the development Senator Kalu has brought to Abia State is also “too much,” as he works for all senatorial districts.
The cleric, who is from Arochukwu (an Aro man), said he has not met the senator personally but is impressed by his leadership.
“Kalu is working for all the senatorial districts in Abia State. Even though I haven’t met him before, as an Aro man, I am impressed by his leadership. Every clergy should support him,” he stated.
He prayed for God’s blessings on the senator, calling him “a tool God is using to bless people.”
Rev. Elekwa also urged the leadership of OUK Movement and Reality Organization to ensure the rice and other items are distributed fairly and transparently to the real beneficiaries.
“He is always distributing food items to the people. May God bless him for his love for humanity. It should be shared as directed,” the cleric added.
He praised the groups for their loyalty and support to Senator Kalu but reminded them to handle the sharing diligently.
