BREAKING NEWS : Afanga, Nchor Win Ogoja, Obudu APC Primaries As Thugs Hijack Electoral Materials In Biase



Leonard Afanga and Celestine Nchor have emerged winers in the just concluded All Progressive Congress, APC chairmanship primaries in Ogoja and Obudu Local government areas.

While Afanga pulled 151 votes to beat his rival, David Illom who scored 95 votes, Nchor scored 163 votes against the 86 votes scored by his closet rival Kingsley Awhen.

Afanga while presenting his victory speech thanked his supporters and the leadership of APC for providing a level playing ground for everybody.

He commended his opponent for giving him a "good fight" even as he called on all party supporters to look beyond the outcome of the election and work together to ensure victory in the general election.

In his part, Nchor thanked the party, his supporters and his opponents even as he called on the two aspirants who didn't make it to close ranks for the interest of the party.

In another development, the election in Biase local government area has been marred with violence as thugs suspected to be supports of Charles Atu, one of the aspirants allegedly hijacked the electoral materials.

Philip Obin, one of the Biase aspirants alleged in a statement that "They resorted to violence, 'touched' ballot box, when they saw my victory.

When cultists who just joined APC a few days ago are sold intent and nomination forms to, even after sales of forms and screening have closed officially, are allowed to stand elections in connivance with some party leaders to 'deliver' them, this is what happens.

I am ashamed we have these kind of people in APC.

I will win the election over and over. I thank my people and supporters for not retaliating with violence".

Efforts to get Atu to respond to the allegations was unsuccessful as his telephone line was switch off at the time of filing in this report.
