BREAKING: Cross River increases NYSC allowance to N60,000

After years of agitation and appeal for improved welfare, the Cross River State government has finally increased the state allowance of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state to N60,000 per annum.

The state was paying the Corp members N3090 monthly, that is N37080 yearly but now they will pocket N5000 monthly which is N60,000 in a year.

The state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Comrade Asu Okang announced this yesterday during the passing out ceremony of over 2000 corp members sent to the state.

Okan, in a Facebook post said that increment was very timely and a welcome development given the role of corp members in the state.

"Today, I attended the passing out ceremony of over 2000 corp members sent to our dear state, for the one year compulsory NYSC.

His Excellency the Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade has announced an  improved walfare package for the scheme and increased the monthly state allowance for corp members from N3,090  to 5000.

This is a timely and welcome development, given the role  of corp members in the state, especially at this transition period", the post reads.
