Sen. John Owan Enoh |
Owan Enoh who is a former staff of Unical met with some ASUU members under the aegis of 'Academic Rescue Forum' on Saturday at De-Kadana Hotel, Calabar to solicit support for his governorship ambition.
At the end of the meeting attended by over one hundred (100) academic staff of Unical including five Professors, Enoh handed over an envelope containing N250,000 for transport fare and refreshment to the convener, Dr. Demitrus Okim.
Disappointed by the amount, some Unical ASUU members who attended the meeting branded Enoh with so many unprintable names saying that his donation embarrassing and height of insults on ASUU members that attended the meeting.
One of them who spoke with Fearless Reports in confidence said that "We all felt embarrassed. It's the height of insults on us for a governorship candidate to call over 100 of us to a meeting without proper arrangement for refreshment all to handover an envelope containing paltry N250, 000 for refreshment and transport fare.
Owan Enoh has demonstrated that he's not ready for the elections. The meeting lasted for over two hours and I paid for the water I drank. In fact, the 'area boys' that he moves around with even collected N10,000 from the money".
Another source who introduced himself as Dr. Effiong, said that the convener, Dr. Demitrus Okim "even took N100,000 from the money for logistics. Now tell me how over 100 academic would share N140,000 for transport fare and refreshment?"
He added that "Just recently, the Akwa Ibom State APC deputy governorship candidate came here and spent over 2 million on us. We're not saying we wanted anybody to buy us but of course we cannot be bought but it was better for him not to have given anything than what he offered.
My happiness is that despite his plea for endorsement, we all snubbed him. He said he wants to change the political setting of the state, he claim to have the support of the federal government but we will see how he will do it".
Efforts to get the reaction of the Director of Communication of Owan Enoh's campaign organization was fruitless as his phone was not connecting at news time.
