Buhari's victory a reward for progressive leadership - Ochicha

President Muhammadu Buhari

Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Iluji, Ondo State, Mr. Odey Ochicha has said that the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the recently held Presidential election was a reward for purposeful and progressive leadership.

Ochicha in a congratulatory message to the President and the All Progressives Congress, APC said that President Buhari 's reelection was a true reflection of the wishes of majority of Nigerians.

He maintained that contrary to insinuations by the opposition PDP that the election was rigged in favour of the APC, Nigerians would vote massively for Buhari again if the election were to be repeated because of the overwhelming performance of the President with limited resources.

Ochicha who is a Chieftain of the APC urged other candidates who contested the election to accept the outcome in good faith as politics was a game and not war.

According to him "I want to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and our great party for deservingly emerging victorious in the just concluded Presidential election. The victory was a reward for the progressive leadership the President has shown since assuming office.

"Those who feel the President is not deserving of the victory are either lying to themselves or they've forgotten so soon where we came from. Under the APC led administration, only $92 billion has been made from the sell of crude oil. When you compare that to the $454 billion Jonathan made and compare the projects completed by this government, you will understand why majority of Nigerians who understand this reality voted massively for him".

He added that "We have heard report from local and international observers about the elections and all have been positive. Although we experienced pocket of challenges in some areas which is normal as no election is perfect, the people who came from all part of the world have said the election was credible enough to be accepted.

"I want to call on the opposition to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship by accepting the result in good faith. APC didn't only win the Presidential election; the party also won more seats in the Senate and house of Representatives. It's sheer hypocrisy for the PDP to accept the national assembly election that was held jointly with the Presidential election and turnaround to discredit the Presidential election.

When I lost the governorship election in  2015 in Criss River State, I accepted defeat not because I didn't have any reason to challenge the result in court. I did that because the peaceful coexistence of my people is more important to me than my personal ambition.

Atiku should learn from me and Jonathan who had everything at his disposal to reject the 2015 results but cement his name as a gentle elderstatesman by accepting the outcome of the election".
