In keeping to his promise of prioritising Students welfare, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (Unical), Prof. Zana Akpagu is about to complete another massive state-of-the-art 60-rooms capacity hostel for undergraduate students of the University.
The building, located behind the female hostel is also structured to improve water management and supply around the female hostel with a giant elevated water tank which will supply water to the hostel and others, non-stop when it's finally commissioned for use.
It will be recalled that since Prof. Akpagu assumed office in 2015 as the first alumnus VC of the University, he has paid keen attention to Students welfare by addressing many issues affecting them ranging from infrastructural deficits, security, conducive learning environment amongst others.
On accommodation, he has rehabilitated so many hitherto dilapidated hostels including halls 8 and 9 female hostels as well as hall 4, male hostels.
To further bolster his efforts, the VC last year built a massive hostel for the postgraduate students and he is set to deliver another one soon for the female students.
