BREAKING : Unical VC Lifts Suspension On Documentation Of Newly Employed Staff

Finally, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, (Unical), Prof. Florence Obi has lifted the suspension placed on documentation of people employed between 2019 and 2020 by the Prof. Zana Akpagu's administration.

On assumption of office in December last year, Prof. Obi who's the first female Vice Chancellor of the University, directed the Human Resource and Establishment division of the University to stop documentation of all Staff employed by her predecessor between 2019 and 2020. 

Subsequently, she setup a committee to investigate the employment process. Although, the outcome of the investigation is yet to be made public, she has now directed that all those employed who are yet to complete their documentation exercise should be allowed to do so from Monday, August, 2nd.

The directive, contained in an announcement released by the Director, Human Resource and Establishment Division, Mrs. Agatha Ikposi, also directed Cross Riverians from Akamkpa, Abi and Akpabuyo as well as people from Abia State affected to also turn up for the exercise tomorrow by 10:am.

"Be informed that the Vice Chancellor has graciously directed that all applicants who were offered appointments letters between 2019 and 2020 who are yet to complete their documentation exercise should be allowed to do so.


Consequently, all of such persons are advised to turn up and complete their documentation exercise. Applicants from Abi, Akamkpa and Akpabuyo in Cross River State and all of such pending cases from Abia State should also turn up for this exercise on Monday 2nd August, 2021 at 10:00am promt ", the announcement reads in part.

The University however warned that" there shall be no gate crashing. We encourage all to adhere to Covid-19 protocols put in place for our safety".
