Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi |
The Management of the University of Calabar, (Unical), has disclsimed an earlier announcement by the Director of Human Resource and Establishment, Mrs. Agatha Ikposi asking newly employed staff who are yet to complete their documentation to proceed to do so.
The University in a statement by the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe noted that, although the management is not "disparaging" the source of the announcement, no such directive was given to the Director.
Recall that Mrs. Ikposhi in an announcement she signed and circulated had claimed that the Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi had "graciously directed that all applicants who were offered appointments letters between 2019 and 2020 who are yet to complete their documentation exercise should be allowed to do so".
The first announcement issued by Mrs. Agatha Ikposi, Director, Human Resource and Establishment Division of the University |
Ikposi emphasized in the statement that, "all of such persons are advised to turn up and complete their documentation exercise. Applicants from Abi, Akamkpa and Akpabuyo in Cross River State and all of such pending cases from Abia State should also turn up for this exercise on Monday 2nd August, 2021 at 10:00am promt ".
The Management has however, denied asking her to make such announcement, advising affected people to show understanding as they continue to work to address the issues delaying their documentation.
"The attention of the Management of the University of Calabar has been drawn to an announcement purportedly emanating from the office of the Director, Human Resource and Establishment requesting persons from certain Local Government Areas and a State who were issued with appointment letters to report at the Establishment Unit for the purpose of completing their documentation.
Disclaimer by the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe on behalf of the University Management |
While not disparaging the source of the "announcement" , I wish to state unequivocally that management has not given such directive, and so, the information should be disregarded by members of the publics", the statement reads.
