Princess Barbara Agoye : Towering Profile Of A Burgeoning Entrepreneur, Politician

PBAF Founder, Princess Barbara Agoye

There is a growing recognition of the untapped capacity and talents of women and women’s leadership in politics. Over the last two decades, the rate of women participation in national and global politics has grown exponentially.

Many women are making giant strides locally and internationally. For instance, Princess Barbara Agoye, a young enterprising lady from Obudu local government area of Cross River State is making strides in business and politics.

Over the weekend, she was sighted on arrival at Transcorp Hilton, Calabar in her shredded jeans, cow girl boots and hood covering her face with shades. She was reportedly in Calabar for several business and political meetings ahead of the 2023 general election.

For those who may know her much, Princess is an entrepreneur, politician, administrator, farmer and fashion designer who has enjoyed a fulfilling life and career with a series of sterling achievements.

Her interest in politics started very early when she joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at just 18. She worked hand-in-hand with Otunba Fasewe Johnson; a personal friend to President Obasanjo for his re-election campaign in 2003.

Rumour has it then that her creativity earned her so much fortunes that she established herself with properties in the expensive Federal Capital Territory, Abuja before she even clockd 20.

Her astute political acumen took her to another level in  Akwa-Ibom State during the 2015 general elections where she was nicknamed "Deputy Resident Electoral Commissoner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC".

During that dispensation, both local and international papers in Akwa-Ibom had a field feast of this young lady who has found a way to remain extremely private despite her towering political milage.

Princess Bee as she is popularly called is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Princess Barbara Agoye Foundation, (PBAF), Barberry Dykes Garments and Princess Bee Foods Limited.

PBAF is a non-profit organization that is focused on supporting the less privileged by providing them with the needed assistance through empowerment, programs and other humanitarian services.
The foundation has been very instrumental in the fight against poverty through women empowerments, skill acquisition, girl child education and women rights.

Princess Bee Foods Limited on the other hand, is an exporter of local foods like palm oil, kernel nuts, cereals, cashew nuts, Agro food items, cocoa, ginger, ogbono, spices and soup ingredients to Europe and America.

Agoye is an alumnus of University of West Scotland, United Kingdom where she recently bagged a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She also holds a Bachelors Degree in International Relations as well as Diploma in law. Her resume' is rich with lots of other leadership programs, trainings and certificates to her credit.

The beautiful daughter of one of the first generation politicians, Dr. Simon Agorye  is bold, a go-getter, a mobilizer, an Amazon, and a successful entrepreneur. She has built successful businesses in different sectors including fashion, agriculture, food processing, etc.

Princess is very passionate about the plight of the girl child in Nigeria, hence the reason PBAF was setup to nurture, develop, and protect the girl child in 2016. The foundation has continued to touch the life of the girl child not only in the state but in the South- South region. She is an inspiration to many people, young and old. Her life of impact indicates that she is a force to reckon with.

Although she held several political meetings during her last visit to Calabar and joined the PDP very young, at the moment, there's no clear picture on which political party she belongs. Howbeit, one thing is certain; she'll bring enormous value to any political party she eventually joins.

  1. To say she’s a go getter is an understatement. She brings down any wall she faces in life.
