The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has mourned the death of Elder Barrister Ejie Eke Ukaegbu, describing him as a trailblazer and patriarch whose legacy will endure.
Kalu, in a statement personally signed by him, expressed deep sadness over the passing of the revered community leader, popularly known as Nduzioma Igbere and The Baron of Milverton Avenue.
The former Abia State governor noted that the late Ukaegbu belonged to a rare generation of leaders whose wisdom, courage and dedication to community development distinguished them.
He said, “On behalf of the good people of Abia North Senatorial District, I mourn the passing of Elder Barrister Ejie Eke Ukaegbu, a distinguished son of Ebiri Okomoko and a man of honour.”
Kalu added that the deceased was “indeed one of the last of the Mohicans, whose kind is fast disappearing,” noting that his contributions to society would not be forgotten.
He further commiserated with the Ukaegbu family and the entire Igbere community, urging them to take solace in the impactful and fulfilled life the deceased lived.
Kalu also prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed patriarch and asked God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
