Buhari Has Been Just To All, A Tremendous Blessing To Cross River - Obono-obla

Former Chairman of Special Presidential Panel on Recovery of Public Assets, Chief Okoi Obono-obla has urged Cross Riverians to embrace the All Progressives Congress, APC and President Muhammadu Buhari wholeheartedly as the government has been of tremendous blessing to the state.

Obono-obla in a chat with this reporter said that the allegation of ethnic bigotry labeled against President Buhari is mere propaganda that people of the state should ignore as the government has been fair to all.

He said that "undoubtedly, the APC Federal government that came into power in 2015 has been a tremendous blessing to our people even though they received APC with such hostility and venom, and even branded it as ''Islamic'' Party. Those of us who propagated APC were called names, mocked, and derided by our people".

Obono-obla maintained that "Our people have benefited tremendously from this APC-led federal government in terms of projects and appointments. Look at the Highway from Ugep - Ediba that the PDP government abandoned from 2003 to 2015; see the ultra-modern project at Ikom; the Ikom-Ugep Highway rehabilitation.

See the Federal Polytechnic, Ugep!!! See the newly commissioned solar power plant in Obudu. See the Naval hos[pital, Calabar that was abandoned for nearly 50 years but was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018".

The APC Chieftain whose interest to run for the Cross River Central Senatorial seat in 2023 is gathering momentum in the state added that "in the PDP days, we did not see any such appointments in positions of importance.

According to him, "today, we have an Ambassador to the Republic of Italy and several other important countries, and We had the Head of Service of the Federation; we had Chief of Naval Staff. we had Auditor General of the Federation; we had a Chief Justice of Nigeria, Chairman of a Federal University governing council and Chairman of Federal Polytechnic governing council.

Wel also have Federal Commissioners in National Population Commission, Hydro-Electric Power Areas Producing Commission, Board member in Nigerian Ports Authority, Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Ugep; soon we will have the Chairman and Member of a Governing Council of Federal College of Education. We shall soon have several members of governing councils of federal universities".

The Senatorial hopeful advised that "Our people must embrace APC wholeheartedly. It is the way to go. We should stop insulting President Muhammadu Buhari. He has shown tremendous love and respect to us, which is unprecedently".

On the allegation of nepotism against President Buhari, he said that "all the allegations of ethnic bigotry labeled against President Buhari are propaganda. He is a Man of Justice and is fair to all selections of the country.

Northern Nigeria is made up of three geopolitical zones, and Southern Nigeria is also made up of three geopolitical zones. Northern Nigeria is even more heterogeneous than Southern Nigeria. When somebody is appointed from Yobe State, we should not think of everybody from Nothern Nigeria in Hausa or Fulani. We must endeavor to study and know this country and shun ethnic or religious bigotry under any guise".
