Commissioner Charges Stakeholders To Revive Science, Technical Edu In C’River

The Honourable Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation in Cross River State, Dr. Justin Beshel has urged the Heads of Science and Technical Schools across the state to take their work seriously by working hard to revive the state’s glory in science and technology.

The Commissioner who stated this in a meeting with Principals from various Science and Technical Schools across the State noted that the stakeholders are the pride of the society who are raising leaders in the field of science, technology and innovation.

While recounting the glory days of Science and Technical Schools in the state, Beshel, an old student of Science and Technical school encouraged Principals to put monitoring measures to check the activities of teachers to ensure they live up to expectations.

He sued for their support to achieve the objective of the relocation of the schools to his ministry, priding the ministry’s outstanding national visibility including winning the first prize in the National Techno EXPO competition in the first year of Governor Bassey Edet Otu's administration.

According to him, “corruption will not be tolerated under my watch. Expect some shakeup because we are thinking of transferring some teachers who have spent considerable number of years in a particular school.  I also want you to adopt mandatory establishment of JETS and Young Farmers clubs in all Science and Technical schools. I also expect you to revive the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) in the state”.

The meeting had in attendance, the Executive Secretary of Science and Technical Education Board, Dr. Emmanuel Archibong, and the Management team of the Board.
